RedRoko

When eight siblings with their six spouses go on vacation together, all sorts of mischief is bound to happen. RedRoko is the more creative, organized sort of mischief that evolved from ideas batted around a hotel room in a faraway land.

With seventeen children between us, we know this: We love our children, but don't always know what to do with them. We also enjoy trading ideas, but then often forget those ideas in the moments we need them. We know we're not the only ones who feel this way. So, we decided to create a site for sharing the activities we love: a place anyone could access fun and education without spending hours sifting through Internet pages. Each day, we all want to make the most of whatever minutes we have to share with our cuties--whether 15 minutes or 60 minutes or more. RedRoko is a collection of our favorite ideas and inspirations.

What does "redroko" mean? Well, "rodkal" (pronounced "rovthe kol") is a Danish word and is a traditional dish of red cabbage in Denmark. We ate enough rodkal on our Denmark trip to either pickle our brains or inspire the idea for this site. We wanted to honor the place of our heritage as well as the inception of our idea for this blog, but when that Danish word "rodkal" comes out of our American mouths it sounds more like "rowkow" and thus we dubbed ourselves RedRoko.

So, we hope you too may find meaning and inspiration out of this site on ways to spend quality and quantity time with the children in your life. We also hope this journey is full of fun and surprises too. Enjoy.
